Think twice before going to the beach..

The title of the article was "Pests Banned"

We have a 30-strong CID Beach Bay team located in six surveillance towers
on Jumeirah Beach,” he said. “The main duty of this team is to maintain the
comfort of female beach goers and to protect them from harassment while they are
on the beach or in the water.” Brig Al Mazeinah also made it clear that legal
action will be taken against any of the men who dare to repeat their crimes.

“Those who go to the beach must swim. They are not allowed to sit and watch
the swimmers. If they want to see the view or the sunset, then they may go to
the Corniche where the municipality has provided chairs,” Brig Al Mazeinah said.

“One can sit there and enjoy the view. On the beach, they must swim or
else they will be arrested.” He said that patrolling the beach and making sure
that everyone felt safe was an important part of CID’s job.

Few issues:
1. Selection of wordings and graphics in our Media. When the issue was presented to the media, Emirates Today had a picture of a woman in her swim suit with many "Asians" staring down at her... and now with the title of "Pests Banned" they still have the picture of a "worker" on the beach..
  • Is the word PEST a good reflection of what exactly the situation is? Used it metaphorically or not i understand.. but its a mean of communication.. it sends signals and messages .. if the men were "pests" .. if pests are found, then isn't it true that they found something to feed on? ;)
  • A picture is worth thousands words.. and they sure are using this tool

2. Its a good thing that a decision was made quickly (after all the fuss those women did) but the question is.. its a two sided issue.. the rule was set on the MEN but what about the WOMEN!!??!?!

3. Isn't it time to have a dress code rule implemented?

next thing u know they'll arrest men who go inside a shop :p and leave without buying anything
since when did u have to swim at the beach anyway? maybe u like to stand there.. if u were doin somethin suspicious then maybe but having this rule is ridiculous!

Okay have a rule but at the same time have one that can be implemented on women who expose 3/4 of their flesh on the beach!
