The United Arab Emirates
The UAE .. the other side of the UAE that you might not know about.. its not only Dubai.... Its not about the traffic and accidents... its not the boost in tourism and industry... its not the stock market... its not the businesses that fill every corner... the multicultural dynamic society... its not that.. its not the shawarma restaurants on the corner of every road... its not the crowded streets... the bias in many's perception... its not the discrimination a lot create towards us.... its not the "flowery gucci bag" society... its not what you think it is..
My Dear Reader..
Before you go ahead reading those lines... please clear your thoughts of all your previous assumptions, perceptions and unpleasant experiences of the UAE.. read with me.. and bare with me..
Once upon a time 35 years ago.. two wise men sat together.. on the sand of this country.. between AbuDhabi and Dubai.. discussed...decided... and UNITED ... seven groups into seven Emirates...
Is it a coincidence that it united 7 emirates.. while in the Qoran it was mentioned 7 skies and 7 seas.. ? Its the secret of 7 that united them all..? The point is.. they were united ever since and till the last day of our lives.. we shall be united..
The UAE my dear reader is not the materialistic factor that you had back in your mind.. its a big family of seven brothers who live together.. each with his own identity.. some are better in trading while others are better in planning.. some have skills which others don't .. yet all they come under one leadership.. one cultural society..
The UAE is about the love we were fed ever since we were as young as to know our mothers.. and as old as we will live... its about those people who lived for their day...for their country.. who compromised and sacrificed to see a vision come true..
The UAE is about a house of a grandmother who'd tell you the stories of our grandfathers.. stories that would make us sit around her .. or on her lap... and listen as if it was a tale of a land that never existed.. a fairy tale..
The UAE is about families who cared about each other...who if one was ill, the whole neighborhood would suffer with him...
The UAE is about parents who taught their children that RED , GREEN , WHITE & BLACK are the colors of the flag.. the flag of our country.. and showed them pictures of Sheikh Zayed and Rashed and we told them those were your Fathers... who now see HH Sheikh Khalifa.. and they'd point their fingers proudly towards him and with a smile they'd say.. Baba Khalifa..
The UAE is about how to face challenges....how to create something out of nothing....
I looked at the kids few days back coming from their celebrations.. and regardless how modernized we are these days...they still wore the traditional dresses... knew the colors... sang loudly the national anthem.. and drew hearts with their fingers and wrote UAE in them..
Dear Reader... we might be very modernized.. away from our traditions.. but believe me.. deep inside our hearts we have the love of our country engraved .. the love of every corner.. every grain of sand.. and every drop of water in our seas is as valuable to us as our hearts..
Every house in this country has the love of the UAE and its founders rooted in them.. deep in their hearts.. we love this country regardless what happens.. and regardless how things change.. we shall still and will always be citizens of the United Arab Emirates.
Finally....Dear Reader.. i know you hold a lot in your heart against this country.. you would rant about it like forever... but we people of this country would still act as we are brought up .. respecting those who respect us.... take off those shades you are wearing and look at us from a different perspective... try wearing a different shade..
