Stock it right !

If you were working in a factory that produces several kinds of products targeted to different segments... what would your strategy be with regards to your inventory.

You'd have products that move quickly... very demanded...they are like the source of good cash to your company... you want to keep producing more of this product.. you pamper it.. have it on the top of your to-do list.. you try to satisfy the needs and match the production requirments with the demand... you love it !

Other products.. they are good.. but they move slow.. however, they are benefitial to your company.. its one of the products that your customers are so loyal to.. they keep buying this product regardless anything else.. you know what to expect .. you know the demand .. you know how much to keep in inventory.. its predictable.. a good product..

There were cases when u came across a product; and honestly you did not make enough R&D you just thought that it would be a good one.. but against your expectations; that was the biggest mistake you ever did.. it milked your resources and everything.. and didn't it cost you a lot... you started taking anti-depressants too ! its just one bad product that you cannot get rid so easily..

There are many other products; each with its own specifications and "effect" on your organization... and also.. there are many people in our lives who act like those products.. some we admire so much .. some we respect and their presence is so important to us regardless time or place... and others.. it was the biggest mistake of our life.. we are still recovering from the investment we did !

A Last Dot:
Make sure you stock the right .... people !

Find a shelf big enough for me, and I will be sitting there forever. The more comfortable the shelf, the more forevers added to that sentence.

I have no comments actually, just wanted to drop in something in here, as I hate to see 0 comments!!!!!!!

I am sure you will make a bad manager, hehehe, too sentimental, that is a positive thing by the way.

lol why did i imagine a store room stocked with ppl "person #101" & "person #102" etc.

visualize the long-term orientation when u invest in ppl.. u'll make the right choice.

Great example, it only shows how much you are immersed into your studies these days :-D

On a serious note, yes I fully agree with you. Maintaining relationships is also an art & a science, just like running a succesful business. It is your attitude towards the business or the relationship which decides the success or failure of your venture :-)

This is a good point Dots - whilst I fully agree with you on "there are many people in our lives who act like those products" - much like pre-R&D phase we just don't know how to take on these new "friends". Most often we (read I) take 'em at face value or otherwise.

Story of my life - if I meet someone, and they smile at me and make conversation (smiling most of the time) - they become my best friend. Often, to discover later, I am friends with someone, who is no where close to my vision (i.e. pre R&D vision).

Point being, we in our lives suffer from bad R&D investments too - what is worse, there are no business models, forecasts, analysis etc in our personal lives to lead us by : (

Damn, I could really use that crystal ball sometimes :)
