I was looking for a new quote for the "quote of the..." section and came across this one

In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.
Martin Luther King Jr.

It can be interpreted differently.. each upon his own understanding..
what do you understand out of it..
do you think it is true?

To me it means, what comes out of the enemy is expected, no dissapointment there. The lack of action, support or stance from the ones you consider friends is unfogivable and difficult to forget, as it is unexpected.

"what comes out of the enemy is expected"
this is an interesting way of looking at it.. never thought of it from that concept :D

i did think of the second part the same...

lets see what the others have to say too.. see this is what i liked about the quote.. understood differently ...

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm .. We need to learn that silence, when others are being hurt, is not acceptable.

mitsuki..
i agree with you to a certain limit..
but its not necessary when hurt is it?

two hypothical situations..

you did something not "right" .. an enemy got to know.. and used that against you.. your friend all way through knew and saw you.. but never stood up and told you.. they remained "silent" .. would that hurt? or would what your enemy did hurt you more?

another situation..
your enemy uses his words against you....nevertheless...the distance between you and your friends is so far.. you need them.. you seek for them.. you stretch your arms as far as you could.. but they are just somewhere... silent...
when you need them the most...

any other "inputs" ..

My thoughts are similar to HLH's - we (for the most part) may expect the worst from a foe, however this does not cause as much "hurt" to the soul compared to betrayal or lack of support from a friend whom we trust.

I was already confused after reading the original quote & now am more confused after reading the comments. My small brain is not capable of understanding complex things :-D
